Chief Executive Officer

Prof. Eliakimu Mnkondo Zahabu is the distinguished Professor of Climate Change and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Carbon Monitoring Centre (NCMC). He holds a Ph.D. in Climate Change from The University of Twente in the Netherlands, and has served in various capacities, including as Coordinator of the NCMC in Tanzania. Prof. Zahabu is a member of several professional bodies and associations and has authored over 30 scientific publications, book chapters, and reports on forestry issues and climate change. His passion for forestry and sustainable forest management has made him a respected authority and role model in the field.

Senior Safeguard Information System Officer

Dr. Deo D. Shirima is a distinguished Researcher, Consultant, Lecturer and Senior Information Safeguard Officer at the National Carbon Monitoring Centre. Dr. Shirima’s research interests include ecology, forestry, biodiversity, and climate change. He has been involved in several research projects, including quantifying forest ecosystem services and carbon measurement, monitoring, and verification in Tanzania. Dr. Shirima holds a Ph.D. in Ecology from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and has published research in various journals.

 
Senior Biodiversity Conservationist

Dr. Paulo J. Lyimo is a Senior Biodiversity Conservationist at the National Carbon Monitoring Centre. He earned a Ph.D. in Forestry Science and Climate Change from the Sokoine University of Agriculture. Dr. Lyimo’s research interests include ecology, entomology, ecosystem health management, biodiversity, ecosystem services, carbon credits and bamboo resources assessment and management, biological control of invasive species, and climate change. Dr. Lyimo has published research in various journals.
